Welcome to Fallowfield Alpacas

Melanie & Mike

Fallowfield Alpacas is located at Crag House, an 88 acre farm near Hexham in Northumberland. At 680ft above sea level, the alpaca paddocks have spectacular views to the North Tyne valley and the Scottish borders, and to the west along the Roman Wall to the Pennines.

Melanie works full-time with the alpacas and is totally committed to the welfare of alpacas and is really passionate about developing the UK alpaca industry. She has passed her Alpaca Judging Stage 2 Training Course and hopes to qualify as a Judge in 2012. She has extensive knowledge and experience of alpacas and their husbandry as well as a keen eye for quality.

Mike is a qualified architect and former Chairman of a national practice with offices in Newcastle, Leeds and Manchester. Mike's background enables him to advise on the design, fabrication and potential implications of buildings and farm planning suitable for alpaca enterprises. He now works full-time with Melanie developing Fallowfield Alpacas and their farm.

Enormous pleasure is derived from keeping these delightful animals as well as providing significant commercial opportunities in a growing industry.
